Leopard Invitational Preview

04/16/2025

Last year, the Leopard Distance Carnival was such a hit that they've decided to expand it to include all events — now rebranded as the Leopard Invitational. Utah Valley is dominating the sprint events, with athletes Quincy Bonds and Gabe Remy holding the fastest seed times in the 100m. Remy also leads the field in the 200m. On the women’s side, Utah Valley’s Ella Hopper holds the top seed in the 200m with an impressive time of 23.75.

In the steeplechase, Hunter Doughtery and Colorado Mines’ Alex Shaw are the only men to dip under the 9-minute barrier, making them the ones to watch. The South Dakota women are owning the 800m, holding the top three seed times and pushing hard to break the 2:10 mark.

On the men’s side of the 800m, Nolan Moeller stands out as the only sub-1:50 athlete in the field. Right on the edge is Corbin Pyle, sitting at 1:50.2. Ryan Riddle headlines the fast section of the 1500m, boasting a stellar 3:41 — a time well ahead of the rest of the competition.

In the field events, freshman John Sakaguchi out of Westmont College leads the long jump with a mark of 7.05 meters. Stanislaus State shows depth in the hammer throw, with Lamont Lane heading into the meet with a 55.75m seed. On the women’s side, Stanislaus’ Alexis Garnica leads the field as well.
